One of the greatest joys of having a portrait photography business is meeting wonderful families in the Baltimore County area. I’m fortunate to be selected to photograph some of the Perry Hall families for Stroll Honeygo Magazine last year. The Smith family, featured in September’s issue, was incredibly welcoming and made their session a pleasure to photograph. Their beautifully groomed front yard provided a scenic background for some of the family photos that also included their playful dog, Ruby.
My process is a little different. I like to get to know my clients, in person, before the session even begins. After an initial phone call, I meet with the family in their home to discuss details like location, wardrobe, and timing. We also talk about the personalities and interests of the family members—this all helps create a relaxed, enjoyable session.
I met with Kelly weeks before the shoot to learn more about her, Michael, and their three daughters, Ella, Mia, and Nellie. By the time I arrived for the session, I felt well-prepared to capture the essence of the Smith family, and our effort was rewarded. The family was warm and engaged, which made for some truly wall-worthy images.
During the ordering session, we reviewed a slideshow of their photos set to music, and it was clear how much love and joy this family shares. Choosing the “perfect” image to display is always tough, but Kelly ultimately chose the one taken on their front steps for their new “fireplace photo.” The canvas turned out beautifully from my "go to" professional photo processing lab.
If you'd like to see samples in person, feel free to reach out—we can arrange a visit.

It had been several years since the Smiths last had a professional family portrait, and the opportunity through Stroll Honeygo was the perfect reason for an update.
Has it been too long since your family’s last portrait? Would you like a session that is crafted and customized for just your family? I’d love to help you capture special moments like these.
